“After a management contract ends, a Sunset Clause requires an artist to continue to pay the management company for a number of years—or in perpetuity—even though they’re no longer working together. I likened it to a relationship. If you’re done with a friendship, go through a divorce, or lose a family member to death, all of those experiences are foundational. You think it’s over, but some of the emotional baggage and trauma comes back year after year.  If you work through it, you can learn from it. ‘Sunset’ wasn’t just the closing of a marriage, but it was the start of a new life. I took time to reset and recalibrate my love for music and start over.”
